Not much point in Roth conversions?

Filing married now vs single later life is something to look at too. Did not see the OP Filing status.

15% Marginal Tax Roth vs Traditional?

Tax diversity, if Roth was a thing when we started investing that's the route we would have taken in the lower brackets. A couple looking to retire early in mid to late 50s, 1/3 in each rIRA, tIRA and brokerage with 2 or 3 million seems like a sane place to be!

    I Bonds...splitting the difference.

Hate to say this but been so lazy we just been buying after the first of the year. After many years we are getting close to about 3 years of living expenses at 50-60k/year. At some point I need to start selling off the 0% ones and reinvest. Will see where we are at in a couple of more years.

    The Blues (music)

When I started this thread I was not expecting this many Blues fans. To add a little nugget, I listen to a couple of shows on my local radio, every Friday they kick of 11 hours off the Blues starting at 7:00 central time. They also have a couple of the shows on demand, Bridge to the Blues is...

    For Musicans - Music Notation

I read and write music, not as much as I like so let's just say I'm rusty. It's good to learn and know the theory behind it, more so for writing. Out of shear laziness playing by ear is my goto, most stuff I like is 3 chords and the truth to play along with. If I was back playing the horn in a...

Indigenous, for something more current, belive they are still gigging. The earlier stuff they did was fantastic.

    The Blues (music)

Calling all Blues fans, Been a big Blues fan my whole life, being a guitar player may have something to do with it! The history is so vast, much music of today is the root of the Blues. I feel many of the early Blues artist never got the credit they deserve unfortunately. To kick off this...

    Literally: Life After Fire

Not retired yet but close, a couple of OMYs! My first thing I want to do is relive my 8th grade summer when I retire, was my last summer really not working! I was really good at keeping busy and did not spend much of anything, had no dollars to spend so there's that.

How to pay IRA transfer fee?

Called Vanguard, basically sold a few funds to cover the fees. Called Wells too and as expected they could not do much of anything. Moral of the story, if possible have a few dollars in cash in either account before you transfer if moving from Wells. Edit to add: Will be glad when this is all...

How to pay IRA transfer fee?

From my understanding Vanguard does not, maybe I will be surprised. Will give them a call Monday to see what they have to say. It's 4 IRAs so sure it's going to be fun:)

The age when you actually retire, vs. the age when you begin taking social security

I log into my SS account and enter 0 for the earnings the following years, I don't think you can go out a couple of years with income then switch to 0. Maybe you can but all I'm looking for is where I stand today in today's dollars, if that makes sense.

    Vacation home/cabin use?

This is the flip side to my previous post, if the kids would use it that would make it worth it. Would love to see them take their friends up and use the place. I'm sure at some point they would not have much time to use it either. What I'm trying to gauge is how many years is it really...
