    Yeah I went through the same exercise with a plane. The issue seems to be the ability to rent exactly the plane/boat you want. For the plane I want to back country fly in ID. A 182 can work for that but most rentals will limit off airport landings. Same with a boat. Hard to find a nice 32ft...
