Moto G camera taking unwanted photos of people

I had an IBM 486 desktop computer in the early 1990s that I called Christine. I used an internal dial up modem since DSL wasn't available at that time. After having it about a year, the computer had a habit of trying to startup by itself once a day usually around 7 pm. It would boot up as far as...

Whole house generator and propane supply

We have a 10 KW Kohler generator. We also use propane for backup heat, hot water, and a stove. 10 KW is enough for our house, the electric dryer will load shed if the A/C is on. A smaller generator means less fuel usage under low load conditions. Check with your propane suppliers. Some may not...

    To mow...or not to mow

I mow about 2.5 acres, 2 homesteads once a week. I acquired a used Cub Cadet with a 25 hp Kohler engine and a 50" deck. It takes about 4 hours. I also bushhog about 3 acres of trails and a meadow on my place about once a month. I have a Kubota L3901 and a 6' Land Pride rotary cutter for that. I...

What are people cutting back on?

I am riding my motorcycle more often. It is a Suzuki DRZ400s. It gets 60 mpg no matter how hard I drive it. It has a old school carb and no emissions controls. I have a Chevy Colorado that averages 20 mpg and the wife drives a Nissan Rogue which averages 27 mpg.

    Dehumidifier in Basement Question

We coated our basement floor with an epoxy sealer. I'm addition to looking really nice, it acts as a drylock. The concrete walls were sealed with a masonry drylock.

Where do you shop for groceries?

We shop for food at Kroger & Aldi which is about 10 miles away. There is an Amish market where we get lunch meat, cheeses and bulk items. It is about 15 miles away. The wife goes to a Costco every once in a while. It is a 55 mile drive. We are raising a fairly large garden, which will mostly...

CDC has approved 4th vaccine dose for some people

Consider a control group, the people in the White House. I assume they have been vaxed and boosted. Seems that a high percentage of them are getting infected. Harris, Blinken, various folks at the White House correspondents dinner to name a few. In my county (population ~25,000, <40% boosted)...

Which Asset Classes Protect Against Inflation by Larry Swedroe

I think a well balanced portfolio should have some precious metals. I believe we will see a surge in silver prices in the near future. Gold hit a record (briefly) last month. If the USD is replaced as the global currency, then PMs here will skyrocket, as will inflation.
