Car, Car and more Car.. How many is Enuff? How many in your life time?

I’ve never been big on cars. I’m on my 8th car, but if I take out the ex-wife/kids car, then only my 5th.

The last two cars I bought new, one in 2000, which I replaced in 2017 with a Subaru Forester. Still driving that car, 7 years later and not quite 80k miles.

I’ll probably drive it for many more years, unless I decide to BTD.

Nah, I found out through a friend, who's big-time into Studebakers. He said that from what he read, the winners will be notified by mail, but that the Hawk stays in Pennsylvania, so that rules me out. And him, as he's in Ohio. There was also a $2,000 second prize that someone in Arizona won. I do have two friends who live in Pennsylvania, who also bought raffle tickets at the same time I did, so I guess there's always a chance it was one of them.

Well, 1970 Bug (the real one, not that 90s thing), 1981 VW Rabbit (terrible car), 1990 Suzuki Swift (excellent, but killed when hit from behind by F250), 2001 Kio Rio (lasted 185K miles, and I still sold it to a friend), 2013 Honda Fit (last of my full-time work, and now retirement, so only 80K miles, and my only automatic). This baby gotta take me to The End.

I cannot compete in quantity with many of the folks here, but how about this:

1973 Datsun 240Z: My first car purchase, and my first new car purchase on April 14th, 1973

2023 Nissan Z: Purchased new on April 14, 2023, 50 years to the day from my 240Z purchase.

And I still have both!

I suspect that our adult daughter, who doesn't drive much, won't buy a car on the open market while her parents are alive.

I inherited a lemon when I was 17, which I sold immediately. Since then, I've owned five cars.

Most driven was a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. I put 250K miles on it in 6 years.

Longest owned was a 2006 Subaru Forester that I bought new before it was totaled (for a second time) in 2016.

Previous cars are way too many to count. Probably in the 50 to 70 range. Most of those are collector/fun cars or cars that were flipped. Longest owned driver car was a 1990 BMW 735iL. Had that from 2001 to 2013 and had 230k miles when we gave it to my brother.
 
Just saw this thread and had to drop in. I grew up a 'car guy' in Motown, even working Big3 for a while. Always buying new cars every few years (as finances allowed) and keeping them spotless. Constantly kept up with the industry, driving home every new car was a big event, & detailing my ride was a real hobby. But now the garage (for DW & I) has a 12 yr old Chrysler minivan and 7 yr old Hyundai sedan (both mint & ~50k miles each). After years of no car payments the new car fund now spins off enough interest to show up on the retirement income spreadsheet. But both vehicles look nice & more than meet the our needs. Reading this thread it dawned on me I now view my car like an appliance. I seem to have lost my 'excited to buy a new car' drive (pun intended). Guess I need to turn in my 'Car Guy Card' :(
